Remembering Your Mountain Top Experience

I recently went on my VERY first official hiking trip to Looking Glass Mountain and it was both frustrating and exhilerating.  The reason I decided to start my year off with a hike was so that I can use the experience as a metaphor of the upcoming year.  In my book I make reference to climbing a mountain and how you almost want to quit before you even begin.  But once you start the hike and you're halfway to the top, you look down and realize that you're almost there and you've got to keep moving.  I'll be honest, I felt like giving up so many times, I was out of breath within the first five minutes, my backpack felt like it weighed 100lbs and my entire body started to ache.  The one thing that kept me motivated was I wanted to accomplish the climb and make it to the top and there was a person behind me encouraging me to keep pressing through and that I was almost there.  Well, I made it to the top of that mountain and I cannot exactly explain everything that I was feeling, but one thing I can tell you is that I was glad I did not give up.

As I go through 2011 I know I'm going to have some points on my journey where I become frustrated and will think that it's too hard to complete and I'll want to give up.  But as long as I "Remember My Mountain Top Experience" and keep it in the forefront of my memory-I know that I am sure to prevail.  Create a memory milestone for yourelf and use that to keep you moving in 2011.
